Camp Fox Redeux! (week 542)

For the second year in a row Christopher and Dad left for the weekend to join the YMCA Adventure Guides in Catalina Island at Camp Fox.  While I have never been on the Island, I hear that it is totally amazing. Christopher and Dad shoot arrows, kayak, climb giant poles, snorkel, swim, hike, rock climb, and play Gaga Ball with Adventure Guide circles from all over Long Beach.

This year, they were in their second year at Camp Fox so they were much more experienced than in previous years.  They said that they did different things and also pushed themselves to new heights by dressing up in wet suits, climbing the 30 foot poles to do the leap of faith, and Christopher mastered all four walls of the rock climb.

Apparently, this was also a more dramatic year because half the Adventure Guides got sick on the boat and threw-up. Christoper and Dad hung-in there without getting sick, but everyone was nervous about the boat trip back (which none got sick).

The big change this year was that the Los Lobitos Circle from Patrick Henry (still the youngest circle at Camp Fox), was a lot more confident and assertive.  Dad said that Chris ran off with his friends most of the time and barely needed to check-in with the dads.  Apparently, one year of growth does a lot for the Adventure Guides because the Los Lobitos group felt  a level of confidence at all of the activities, camp fire, cabin, and weekend that indicates the "Little Wolves" will soon be full-fledged wolves in their own right!
