This week was Mom's 41st birthday, so Dad and she went to Los Angeles for an "over-nighter" while Aunt Kelly, Gigi, and Daisy stayed over at our house Friday night. We had an awesome time playing with the dogs, watching the Bee Movie, and playing Xbox. In the morning, we went to Aunt Kelly's work-out class and laid on top of her while she tried to do push-ups and planks. We took her out to breakfast for chocolate chip pancakes and cinnamon rolls, and generally did everything (and ate everything) that we aren't supposed to do when our parents are home.
For the big birthday, it took us the entire day to go shopping for the ingredients, bake the cornbread and cake, and barbecue the ribs for the big birthday dinner for Mom. It seemed she was generally impressed with the effort, and enjoyed most of the day just hanging out and reading while we wrestled with the menu.
It was also a pretty crazy week since our neighbor got evicted, and someone kicked-in the side of Mom's car. We are not sure, but it is possible that the two events were connected. It has been a very long haul with our next door neighbor but it looks like the house might finally get sold and we might get some new neighbors who have kids--hopefully someone we know. There was also some drama about the roommates who got kicked out next door and were temporarily staying in their car. Hopefully, the long nightmare next door will be over soon!
