Let it Snow, Haircuts and Cornhole! (week 524)

The rain and the snow has returned to California and 2017 is shaping up to be a wet year!  For at least Christopher's entire life, the State of California has been a state of constant and burning drought.  Many years, we scheduled trips to the mountains and prayed that there might be a weekend or even just a patch of snow that we might find to sled and build on.  Some years, we had to cancel the trip all together because of how dry everything has been.  But this year is shaping up, and this week we went to Big Bear to stay at the Huber Grandparent cabin while on our last week of winter break from school.

We spent most of the time at the cabin outside. We built a snow fort, threw snowballs at "Trump Targets", and sled, sled, sled.  It was Tyler Hubers first time sledding, so he was super pumped.  While inside the cabin, we spent out time playing Sequence tournaments, watching movies, and turning up the heat to high.  Although the dads had to stay back at work this time (because it was Dad's first week on the new job as Economic & Property Development Director), we still had a great time and are grateful for the beautiful, soft, white snow!

Dad also made us get haircuts this week to start the new year.  I was very happy with my big floppy, messy bangs, but it was driving Dad crazy. For the most part, Mom has prohibited him from cutting our hair anymore. He can still use the clippers to clean up our ears and neck "tighten up our lines" every once in a while, but for the most part the work is not being contracted out. We don't like getting our hair cut one way or another so at least we get "Airheads" candy when we go to the Barber Pole in Cypress.

The "Keisler Colesium" was also the site of the 1st Annual Patrick Henry Foundation Cornhole Tournament". The dads all paid $40 to enter the tournament as a donation to the school Foundation, they said they were doing it for the kids. What it looked like more was a chance to get away from their kids, drink beer, watch playoff football, and play cornhole on a Saturday afternoon in our backyard. I was annoyed because the killed my baby grass--tramping back-and-forth through the roughly 18 games that it took to crown the champion.  In the end it was the two Temple brothers who battled it out for the 64 ounce "Overtime Flask" that was the grand prize, but as they all said: they did it for charity.
