This week was Open House for Patrick Henry Elementary School. I wasn't that excited about it, particularly because Nate and I had a baseball game the same night, but Christopher was super-pumped to show Dad around his classroom, to look at his memory book, and to visit the other classrooms in 1st Grade where he might be going next year.
Sr. Ferrara, Christophers Kinder Teacher said that Chris loves school and learns fast. He tries very hard at his reading, writing and Spanish, and is also doing great in Math--leading the entire class in the GG online math exercises. Chris seems to just love the museum, science, garden, and natural environment; as well as the arts and using his imagination. This week was also the Spanish Book Fair which Mom helped to organize and bring to the school. Chris picked out a few books, which he immediately started reading--including 1st Grade chapter books in Spanish. He is really into it, and the Spanish book vendor that came to the school said they sold over $9,000 worth of books--their best book fair ever at any school they had ever visited. Mom has done so many amazing things for the school as the PTA President.
I got back out on the golf course this week and have been doing really well at Junior Golf. Once we pass the training levels, we are eligible to get out on the course. I played with my buddy Benjamin V., and finished under 40 again. The goal is to get under 40 on the 9-hole course and I have been able to do it in both the times that I played the course--essentially 1 over par average. I love sports, and love to play games.
Over the weekend, we visited the Church Men's Club for breakfast, went to Chris's British Soccer Camp, did all the yard work (Dad almost cut his finger off with the hedge clipper), climbed on the roof, went to a Dirtbags game at Blair Field, attended Emma's birthday party, went to baseball practice, had Sunday School and Children's Choir practice, and played in the charity softball tournament at ELB. There is definitely little time between activities around here but we do have fun and burn a lot of calories!
