What a Week! (week 487)

The Science Fair finally arrived, and Chris was over the  moon excited to set up his project about plant grafting in the Patrick Henry School cafeteria.  There were only three Kinders and three 3rd graders who presented this year, but there were hundreds of other projects from the 4-5th graders who were required to present.  Chris set-up shop and explained his project to the judges and visitors that came through the cafeteria on Science Night.  Later in the week, we found out who won their respective grades and got an invitation to the District Science Fair.  I ended up with 1st place for the 3rd Grade with my solar panel project, but Chris was devastated when his best friend Mady won 1st Place for the Kinders with her project about balance.  He worked so hard on his plant grafting project, so I gave him my medal in a show of solidarity.  We present our projects at the District Science Fair on May 15th if anyone is interested in attending!

It was a dream come true for me this weekend because we got back to USC for the Spring Game on Saturday. Actually, to maximize our time at Exposition Park (and because Chris absolutely loves museums and science), we spent the morning at the Natural History Museum where we saw the dinosaurs, the making of Los Angeles exhibit, and the native gardens.  It was so cool that we bought a family membership so that we can come back again soon. After the museum, we walked around campus and saw the USC Band warming-up.  It was amazing to hear them up close play the National Anthem and the Fight Song.  They are incredible and made the hairs on my neck stand up. The Spring Game was actually a bunch of scrimmages and practice drills rather than a game.  I was a little disappointed in that, but loved being back in the stadium again.  Later that day, our baseball team the Orioles had a night game.  

It was also Grand Prix weekend in Long Beach this weekend which meant everyone had sun burns by the end of it all.  Mom and Dad went to the race finals on Sunday while Chris and I went to Aunt Kelly's for the big building potluck.  This was after church, Sunday school, and choir practice of course.  Chris and I each had $10 to buy something for the potluck.  I chose macaroni and cheese with breath mints.  Chris chose Doritos and pistachios.  Both our choices were a hit.  We had a great time playing cornhole, which we also brought, and spending time with Gigi, Rocky, and Aunt Kelly. 

It was a busy week!
