Spring Game (week 486)

This weekend was all about family time as we spent our Saturday together at USC, the Natural History Museum  and the Coliseum for the USC Football Spring Game.  Actually, I found out that the Spring Game was a series of drills and practices between the offense and the defense, that for some reason everyone wants to watch from the stands but it was super cool to see the Coliseum again.

In the morning, Chris had his weekly British Soccer Camp.  He and Emma have been really into it and he scored a couple of goals in the relay games and scrimmage.  After soccer, we charged up to Exposition Park to explore the Natural History Museum.  Chris had stated that he didn't like the day shaping up as a "sports day" and that he wanted to do different stuff.

Fortunately for us, Los Angeles and Long Beach have everything that you could want or imagine on a Saturday to do, so we went to the Natural History Museum and saw an awesome exhibition on the formation of Los Angeles.  We learned about all the names and people that started Los Angeles and why the streets are named what they are.  We also learned that Los Angeles was the most violent city in American in the 1850s with one person being murdered every day!  Some of the things that also caught my attention were the giant model of downtown Los Angeles, the riots, and the student walkout from the 1960s.  Los Angeles is a crazy place!

We also checked out the gardens (Chris is a poppy fanatic), the dinosaurs, and walked the USC campus.  Our timing was perfect because we got to see the USC Band warming-up and playing both National Anthem and the Fight Song.  Amazing!

Saturday night was back to Long Beach for a big showdown with the 2nd place Brewers.  My friends Gavin and Andres from soccer are on the team, so it was extra fun.  I have been struggling the past 4-5 games with my velocity and control pitching, so my dad asked that I not pitch the last two games.  I was disappointed that I didn't get to pitch to my buddies but instead had a great game defensively with a double play and about 5 other put-outs that helped us pull-out an important 9-6 victory.  We are in the top 3-5 teams but can't seem to pull one out against the Diamondbacks who are running away with the league title.

Sunday was all about church, and spending the day with Aunt Kelly.  She is taking us to the dog park and then to the building potluck.
