Adventure Guides! (week 492)

Chris finished up his 8-week British Soccer Camp this past week.  The camps took place every Saturday morning through the Spring for about an hour at Heartwell Park.  Chris was always hot and cold to the camps and you never knew what you were going to get. Some days he really tried hard, loved the games that they were playing, and did really well.  Other days, he seemed disinterested and couldn't wait for it to get over with.  Chris has been talking about "finding his special talent" like the Ponies of "My Little Pony".  Every one of them have a "cutie mark" which explains their special skill or power.  Chris is really good at school, really good at art, enjoys make believe like My Little Pony, and really enjoys board games and museums. He is also a good athlete but is not competitive in the least and doesn't enjoy watching others play.  This will be a great year to really find Christopher's "cutie mark".    

This week, Christopher's Adventure Guides went to the Police Field Services Division to explore the tactical equipment, vehicles, and units that keep us safe.  The Police Officers gave them a tour and Chris loved holding the shields that they use to protect themselves.  The Adventure Guides had a great time asking the Police Officers about how they got their jobs and what it takes to pursue a career in law enforcement.  It has been a tough time for law enforcement in our country these past few years and sometimes it is confusing to us kids.  We talk about it at breakfast when we read the paper and look at the pictures but it is clear that there are always issues that we need to work on.

I got to go golfing at Heartwell with my dad for the first time.  I have played the course by myself and the other kids through Junior Golf on Friday nights, but never golfed with my dad.   We had an awesome time and were paired with two other guys who weren't that good. I was mainly focused on the golf course and trying to beat my dad but it was also good to spend time talking about the world, the things that we like to do, what I want to do as a job someday.  I hope that we get to play more together.
