Who would have thought that we would get hit with a heat wave in mid-October? With everyone worried about a giant "El Nino" this year, we can't seem to get passed hot and dry. This week, it was a hot one--so hot that it was hotter in Long Beach than in Phoenix, AZ where Dad went for another conference to talk about Government Innovation. He got to see Clint Hickman, who came over to watch a part of his talk and catch-up. Also, he did send us some pictures of the Arizona State University stadium because his hotel was across the street, but I would have rather been there myself. As punishment when he returned, he had to referee 10 straight U8 girls soccer games all day Saturday. I don't know what was worse: (a) referring from 830 am - 630 pm in 102 degree heat, or (b) a grown man wearing the AYSO referee uniform.
The beginning of October is filled with birthdays because Jackson and Doug Armstrong both share October 3rd birthdays with dad. This year, we baked Dad brownies and had dinner at home. With him being gone so much recently, it was good to spend time at home!
