What a weekend of celebrations in Long Beach! After months of practicing, the family descended on Long Beach to attend the grand opening (and closing) of the Bayshore Children's Musical: Jonah and the Whale. We also had Grandma Paula, Grandpa Mike, Aunt Andrea, Uncle Josh, Cousin Sophie, Cousin Eli, and Aunt Kelly over at the house to celebrate Grandpa Paula's 62nd birthday, dad attended a wedding for Meredith and Derek in Sonoma, and the Red Sox won three games over 5 days to move into 1st Place in ELB Pinto baseball!
For Grandma's 62nd birthday, we also pulled it off with a bang by getting all the cousins together with Grandma in one place. Aunt Andrea, Eli and Sophie came down on the train on Saturday afternoon and we all met up for some good cavorting and playing. I had an afternoon game at ELB and then we ordered some of Grandma's favorite Thai food and a delicious chocolate cake from Katella Deli. Dad was out of town for 36 hours to attend a Long Beach Management Assistant wedding in Sonoma, but made it back in town for the cake and the play the next morning. We also had a second birthday celebration brunch Sunday morning with even more friends over at the house. It was great to spend time with our cousins who we love very much.
At last, the Red Sox also had reason to celebrate. After starting the season 3-3, we have battled back with 8 straight wins and moved into first place over the other 15 teams in the U8 Pinto Division of East Long Beach Pony baseball. The season is far from over with two regular season games against two of the top teams, and then the playoffs. But we felt pretty good holding off the Blue Jays 2-1 on Sunday afternoon to get our 11th win of the season. We also got to go to pizza with the team after the game, and then to our plot in the Community Garden. It was a big weekend full of celebration!
