- Angels were swept out of the playoffs by the Royals (3-0) after recording the best record in baseball and having been kept out of the playoffs for five years.
- USC lost to Arizona State on a Hail Mary pass from a back-up quarterback as time expired. They were leading by 9 with only 3 minutes left (no time outs for ASU and a backup quarterback in the game).
- Vikings lost 42-10 to their hated rival Green Bay Packers. They were trailing 28-0 by half time.
- My Green Soldiers soccer team lost 2-3 after starting out with a two goal lead in the first 3 minutes. We had about 15 shots on goal that couldn't find the back of the net.
- Dad's Fantasy Football team got crushed and he lost nearly all his games in his pool.
Probably the only glimmer of hope was all the other upsets in College Football and the fact that Christoper's Lizards won 2-0 (although Chris couldn't play and it was one of the most boring games I have ever seen). In any event, we learned the important lesson that sports are not really all that important after all. Even during the worst stretch of luck, we are still happy and (almost) all healthy; fortunate to have each other and our friends and family with us.
In other news, Christopher came down with another ear infection and another fever. He has been sick for probably an entire month since the wedding in Hawaii and seemingly just can't catch a break. Each day he fights with Mom and Dad about eating something healthy, and each night they fight over taking his medicine. It has been a long haul of waking-up in the middle of the night and finding his way to their bed. Hopefully, this is the last of the TK illnesses that he will bring home this year.
We also got to see Grandpa John, Grammy and Great Grandma Betty. They were on their way to the East Coast, but stopped by to have dinner with us at Dominico's and to celebrate Dad's birthday party. Dominico's is a family tradition going back 60 years and one of my favorites. I always look forward to bread sticks and pizza in the Shore.
