The Taste of Sweet Sweet Victory (week 390)

Christopher finally tasted the sweet reward for all his efforts at raising sweet peas.  After two months of cultivating the soil, watering, preening; and, showing off their progress to everyone who came to the house; Christopher got to pick and eat his organically grown, baby sweet peas.  There were about 12 pods in all or about 40 peas.  Mom helped him to pick them, shuck them, boil them, and salt them.  He thought that they were pretty delicious particularly because of all the hard work he put into them.

Our friend Stacy also experienced the sweet taste of victory after 14 months of campaigning but also years of preparation.  She won her campaign to become the next City Council member for our neighborhood and district.  Chris and I were particularly excited (although we had to go to bed far before the final results were announced). 

Christopher's "Pre-School in Nature" Class of 2014 also came to an end.  He had been attending his classes at the El Dorado Nature Center every Tuesday and Thursday since September 2013.  Although he was sad to see it end, he will see his buddies and favorite councilors Dana and Erica at the Summer Camp.

Since regular season baseball has ended, we have been full speed ahead with All Star (U7 Select) tournaments.  In fact, we started two simultaneous tournaments at ELB and St. Hedwigs this past week.  It has been a tale of two tournaments with our team on both sides of the mercy rule on the same day!  I have been pitching well, but even more importantly broken out of my hitting slump.  Mom and dad have been taking me to the batting cages to build confidence at the plate.  As a result, I haven't struck out since Memorial Day and have an .800 on base percentage.  I even told my dad "I like hitting now" after months of fearing having to go to the plate.
