Newport Beach (week 384)

Our annual trip to Newport Beach with Grammy and Grandpa John finally arrived this week.  It was a super busy week just before our Spring Break, but a great way to kick-off 9 days away from school!  We love to go to Newport Beach because we get to swim in the big pools, do Pirate Treasure Hunts, eat ice cream, watch movies in the theater and take walks on the beach. This year was no disappointment.

Mommy brought us down Friday afternoon because Daddy had to work late on the Police Department budget.  We were a little disappointed because it was cold and windy on Friday night and we couldn't swim. We had lots of fun, but I had to get up Saturday morning to get to my big baseball game against the Cardinals.  Grandpa John and Mommy brought me back to Long Beach for the game.  I started the game because our team was missing three players (two eight your olds), and went head-to-head with a league leader and 8 year old All Star on the mound for the Cardinals.  We shut them down with no hits, no runs, and 5 strike outs.  In the end, we won a nail biter with only 9 guys 4-2 and moved to 1st place in our division and tied for 2nd place overall.

Daddy and Grandpa John took me to In-N-Out after the game, and we headed back to Newport Beach.  Mommy had to stay in Long Beach because she was waiting the arrival of Uncle Mark, Aunt Leah, and our new baby cousin Nina.  Nina is only 4 months old, but made her first trip to Long Beach to stay with us. In Newport, we swam all day long, got good sunburns, and had an awesome time golfing, watching the Sandlot on the movie theater screen, and having dinner with Grammy and Grandpa.  It was a restless night sleeping with all four of us boys in one room, but we had an awesome time Sunday morning going to Crystal Cove for the first time. We found a ton of washed-up sand toys, and I made a walking stick out of an old broken fishing pole.  In the end, all good things come to an end, so we said our goodbyes and headed back to Long Beach (with lots of hotel taffys in our pockets)!
