A good way of describing the difference between my little brother and me is the way we like to start our Sunday mornings. A perfect start to Sunday morning for Chris is to wake-up and snuggle with Mommy. He loves hugs, kisses, and is very affectionate. A perfect start to Sunday morning for me is to join Daddy at the kitchen table where he is reading, sit beside him silently, and construct Mindcraft buildings on the iPad. While Christopher revels in social engagement, I feel most at home working on a project by myself.
Mindcraft is my current obsession. While I am not allowed to play during the week because it "make me crazy", the weekends are a different story. Without work, school, and games to attend I get to build houses, gardens, pools, skating rinks, and stadiums through the online engineering App called "Explore". While some of my friends like the "Survival" version where people blow-up each other's creations, I am a builder and have never liked destroying things. This weekend, so that I could save my creations, I traded $3.99 on my iTunes gift card from Cousin Stephen for the purchase of the upgrades App. Mindcraft is the perfect combination of the things that I love: building projects, solitude, and limitless possibilities. Who knows, someday I may be an architect and can attribute my skills to these formative projects online.
Another important development occurred this week. On Friday night, the ELB Red Sox won our 4th game out of the last 5 played. However, after leading 11-3 through the first 4 innings we got into trouble in the 5th. With bases loaded, the coaches brought me in to pitch. It was late (already past 8:00 pm) on a Friday. I am not sure what happened exactly but I walked three batters in a row and gave up 3 runs. Between three pitchers we actually walked 8 straight but they called the game because of the maximum runs and time expiring. I was absolutely crushed and confused about why this happened to me. I have never had any problems throwing strikes but couldn't get it over the plate. Daddy says that these nights will happen and that the best thing about sports is that we learn about ourselves and always look forward to the next game, inning, and batter. I never thought it would happen to me because my Coach calls me "Mr. Automatic", but failure seems to be a much better teacher than success.
