Presidents Day, Valentines and Baseball (week 374)

This was a big week in the Keisler household getting ready for the big Valentines Day exchange at St. Lukes and Patrick Henry.  This year, Valentines Day fell on a Friday, so we spent the week prepping chocolate lollypops and cards for our classrooms.  We also made cards for our grandparents and got a lot of treats in return.  By Friday night, we were crashing hard from the candy high.  Thank you to all the grandparents for sending the awesome cards, boxes of treats, and money!

It was a warm President's Day Weekend in Long Beach, so we started off our Saturday by taking our Valentines Day money to John's hamburgers for breakfast with daddy.  We got giant pancakes--bacon for me and sausage for Chris--and had an awesome time.  Breakfast was followed by basketball and baseball practices.  Chris and Mady's team--the Rangers--have begun practicing two times a week while my team--the Red Sox--are now practicing two times a week with two more bullpen sessions, and even a scrimmage scheduled for the weekend.   With basketball in Los Alamitos wrapping-up next week, it is getting pretty busy.  Mommy will take Chris to one practice while daddy will take me to another.  On Saturday alone, we had three different practices going throughout the day!

When we got done with our sports, we helped daddy clean-up the front and back yards.  For the first time, I got to work the weed whacker (with daddy's help) and Chris got to work the leaf blower.  It's a little harder than it looks, and made some big lines in the median grass before I got the hang of it. Dadddy's hope is that I will start helping more and eventually take over the landscaping duties at the house.  It is still a ways off in the future but I feel ready to go.  Chris walked up-and-down the street blowing dust and leaves onto everyone's front porches.  Even though everyone in the neighborhood has seen their allergies flare-up over the weekend, he had an awesome time in the process.

It was our neighbor Mike's 40th birthday this Saturday night and the whole neighborhood turned out for music, tacos, and cake. Actually, the kids got sidelined with babysitters and movies, but we could hear all the action across the street.  We still stayed-up late and fell asleep on the couch and floor.  The weekend finished up with a baseball scrimmage on Sunday morning where I pitched two innings.  I faced 8 batters and struck out 5. Daddy called balls and strikes for the game from behind the pitcher and said he called it tight on me, but I still got out of my two innings having thrown about 25 pitches. It was a good start to the baseball season and the warm holiday weekend.
