Paper Cutting, Reading, and Rubber Bands (week 373)

It was another busy week this week, particularly coming off Superbowl Sunday.  With both Chris and I alternating baseball practices, mommy's classes starting again at Fullerton, and daddy attending conference events, it was busy!  Mostly though, mommy and daddy spend their time picking up tiny pieces of colored construction paper and rubber bands that end up in all corners of the house.

Chrstopher's true love (other than dancing to Frozen), is cutting paper snowflakes. He is a cutting machine!  In fact, his teacher Ms. Caroline said that he is the most prolific paper cutter at St. Lukes.  He actually has a reputation at his school for paper cutting! Typically, it is snowflakes...but he has moved into masks, shapes, and little magical people that he uses to tell stories.

I, on the other hand, am still into the Rainbow Loom rubber band bracelet and necklace business.  I spend a lot of time watching You Tube videos of the great Ashley who teaches children via the internet to make evermore complicated and frustrating bracelets.  She is a American children crafting hero.  Most of my projects end up with crying (after pleading with my parents to help me).  However, we have made some pretty cool bracelets. 

For the past two months, I have also really been into my reading log.  There are about 20 slots that you have to fill over the course of the month by reading (or being read to) for about 10-15 minutes per night.  Sometimes, we miss a night here or there so we make it up with 3 or 4 books and 30 minutes in one night.  We pick out most of our books at the El Dorado Park Library--both English and Spanish--and alternate who gets to pick the book that night.  Daddy isn't very good at the Spanish, but I am getting much better.  I amazed my daddy the other night by reading both Spanish and English!

On Sunday afternoon, we went to the Skyzone for Sophia Wodynski's 4th birthday party.  It was the same location last year that we got so charged-up about. Pizza, cake, candy and lots of trampolines! Chris didn't get hurt this year, but we were able to try out all kinds of new moves since we were bigger and better on our feet.  The best was the dodgeball because we got to throw red rubber balls at each other while we bounced.
