Superbowl! (week 372)

This week was filled with beginnings and endings. Christopher began his baseball career with the U5 Texas Ranger Rookies in the ELB Pony Baseball League.  He was super into his new practice uniform, which he picked out with mommy, and wrote his name in stickers across his helmet.  He was also pretty enthusiastic about practice itself, showing interest in chasing and hitting the ball.  He even has decent form for throwing.  The key is that he has some of the hunger to play the game and he ended-up on the same team as his best friend Mady.  It has already become tricky to get everyone to their practices, but with Mady on Chris's team and Nate on my team (the Red Sox), we have a lot of parents to drop-off, stay, and pick-up if necessary.

I have also begun practicing regularly with my team in the Pinto League.  Because I will be one of the pitchers, we have special practices in the bullpen--in addition to the regular team practices.  I have a good feeling that this year will be a lot better than last year with the Pirates where we only had one practice all season and lost every game!

Meantime, I am also wrapping-up basketball soon.  We finally had a breakthrough (after) practice and I had a great game on Sunday (14 points/3 assists/6 rebounds).  Daddy and I stayed after practice and worked on my triple threat (dribble/pass/shot).  Once I got the hang of using a fake to quickly open-up the dribble or the shot, I got into a rhythm in the game. Everything seemed to go my way, and we mounted a major comeback against the Huskies to make it interesting.  We still lost, but came within 7 of beating the best team in the league.  We have one more game next week to try and grab a win for our parents and coaches.

It was also the end to the football season.  With Superbowl Sunday at our house, daddy and I installed a new TV outside.  I made a bet with Grandpa John that the Seahawks would beat the Broncos and boy did they ever crush them--43 to 8!  Grandpa John called Chris and I to talk some trash the day before and we listened to his message on the loud speakers 10 times laughing and trash talking.  It was not an exciting game from the point of scoring, but it was definitely awesome to win my first Superbowl bet with my Grandpa.
