It's Hot! (351)

Although school started, the nice cool weather of fall did not start with it.  It has been hot and humid in Long Beach--and I mean really hot and humid--for the past two weeks.  That the Keisler house is still not air conditioned makes hot weather a real uncomfortable thing.  During school, we at least have air conditioning in our classrooms.  After school though, we needed a solution...so we got a pool!

Mommy found a pool that was 12 feet across to fit in the back corner of the yard behind the garden.  It almost fits perfectly and is about three feet deep.  Since the weather is so hot, the water stays around 85 degrees, and because of the shape makes a perfect whirlpool if everyone swims in the same direction.  After a long day at school, soccer practice, or working on the yard there is nothing better than a quick swim.  It will have to come down when Halloween gets here (and maybe sooner), but it is the perfect answer to a couple of hot days in Long Beach.

I have also officially switched gears from baseball to soccer after attending the Galaxy game at
the Stub Center last week with Daddy and Chris.  Each morning, Daddy and I watch highlights of Lionel Messi's 50 greatest goals, and we have converted our backyard grass from baseball field to soccer field.  My Cerritos Strikers Boys Under 8 club team team started our season this weekend at Cypress College and got beat 8-0.  This wasn't as bad as it looks because the first time we played the much bigger, older, and better team...we lost 15-0.  We have a long way to go, but you have to start somewhere.  The only problem is that we aren't having very much fun when we get beat so bad.  We practice hard 2-3 times a week, but we have a lot of 6 year olds and 1st graders playing against 8 year olds and 3rd graders.  Daddy says hand in there and practice my "cuts".  I don't know exactly what he means but Messi is really good at it.

USC also had its home opener this weekend and Mommy went to the Coliseum to see the Trojans play the Washington State Cougers.  As is becoming typical in the Lane Kiffin era, USC lost to WSU for the first time since 2002 and only scored 7 points.  Daddy says that he is not going to go to the Coliseum until Lane Kiffin is fired so it may be a long time before I get to go to a home game.
