A Memorable Memorial Day Weekend (week 336)
Since we have been back in Long Beach, there has not been much free time. Between school, baseball practice, games, volunteer shifts, Memorial Day parties, and trips to Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo, it seems like it has been more than just 5 days since we landed the plane from New York. Most of the business was due to preparation for the "Mustang Stampede Memorial Day Tournament" for U6 Shetland Boys All Stars. We had to practice and register immediately after landing from New York on Tuesday night, and had Thursday and Friday practices with two games Saturday, one on Sunday and two more on Monday. With mommy volunteering at the registration table, daddy volunteering for field prep, and everything in between, the entire family (including Christopher who has to watch it all from the sidelines), has been in a constant state of activity.
On Thursday morning, Christopher and daddy went north for a conference in Santa Barbara. Actually, Grandma Paula and Sophie met Christopher in Santa Barbara to go to the zoo while daddy was working. After the conference was over, Daddy went to San Luis Obispo to help Aunt Andrea and Uncle Josh move into their new house in Los Osos. Christopher got to go horseback riding, fruit picking, and ice cream eating while everyone was working.
While I was playing baseball in Long Beach, Cousin Eli, Sophie and Christopher had the time of their lives running around the farm and putting diapers on their heads. Cousin Eli said it was one of the greatest weekends of his life...I think because he had Christopher all to himself and they are both really into adventure games. I am less into the adventures and more into sports games, so Chris, Eli and Sophie are perfect for each other!

In my first All Star game, we beat a travel ball team from Los Alamitos 16-9. I went 2 for 2 with 5 RBIs, including a bases loaded triple down the first base line. We lost our second game but won our third and got the 2nd seed out of our group play and a bye on Monday morning. We will play the semi finals this afternoon and see if we can't get into the big game in our first tournament. Our team is pretty good on defense but we haven't played much together. As one of the youngest players and not as familiar with the coaches, I have been playing a lot of catcher and moving around the field some, but hope to crack into the infield as we get settled in.
