New Stuff (week 337)

We got our new practice jerseys for my soccer club this week.  They are red with "Strikers FC" written across the front.  We wear black shorts and socks, and they look pretty cool.  Since he has been playing with the little brothers and sisters that come to team practice at Cypress College, Christopher wore my jersey at practice on Thursday and wouldn't take it off.  He is pretty good at running and dribbling with the ball; and plays pretty hard with the other kids at practice.  We aren't sure if he is into the game as much as he likes to play with the other kids on the field. They get pretty crazy and most of their practices end up as wrestling matches in the middle of the field.

The week was all club soccer because our baseball team took a break to finish up league playoffs.  The Pirates were eliminated from the playoffs when we were in New York, so we are done with league play and I was able to attend soccer practices and our futsal tournament Irvine Valley College on Saturday.  This is where we play five-aside on smaller fields and goals.  We mostly have 6- and 7-year-olds on our team (kinder and first graders), so we got absolutely wiped out by the teams of 8-year-olds (second graders).  In our two games, we didn't score at all but gave up an estimated 30 goals. I played hard, ran hard, and hit the ground hard.  Daddy was very proud of me because I wasn't intimidated by the bigger kids and banged into them when we were running for the ball on breakaways.  I have a reputation right now for taking falls, and recorded 8 falls to the ground in the second game alone!

A couple weeks ago, we also got a new truck.  We finally had to sell Daddy's 1998 Gold Maxima that he bought in New Jersey.  We had a lot of good times in that old car, but it was starting to have problems and needed expensive fixes.  Its replacement is a 2013 dark gray Tacoma.  Christopher and I love to ride in the back of the new truck with our windows down and the music up.  We can also put ice chests, baseball and soccer equipment, lawn mowers, and all kinds of stuff in the back.

Also, Daddy started his new job as the CFO with the Long Beach Police Department this week.  This means he has to drive all the way downtown each morning, and it also means that he is having a harder time making us pancakes, waffles, or bagels for breakfast every morning.  Because of his new commute, everything has to get going a little earlier than it has for the past 5 years when his offices have been just two miles away from home.
