Mommy and Daddy attended my first Parent-Teacher Conference this week and were pleased with the feedback from Senora Quintero. She said that I am a good friend to the other kids. I often participate in the class discussion and answer questions. I am good at math. And, I can read and write a little bit. Although I am just picking-up Spanish words and still speak English primarily at school, I have passed the standards to be halfway through Kindergarten.
This week, we also got our first real taste of Fall weather. The wind and rain came through Long Beach to break the 80 degree heat. There were leaves swirling around the front yard and we even had to cancel Thursday night soccer practice. All the trees have turned to red and gold; and, it looks like Thanksgiving and Christmas are on their way (finally)!
We also had our first Futsal (indoor soccer) game Tuesday night. I have started playing on a second soccer team that is loaded with Kindergartners from my class at Patrick Henry. We play at a local warehouse that has a synthetic turf field, a futsal court field, big goals, scoreboards, and field striping. It is my favorite place right now. We have games on Tuesday night and practice for two hours on Sunday night each week. The kids on this team are intense and focused--everyone does their drills and pays attention.
Our outdoor soccer team--the Geckos--also played Saturday afternoon and won our 8th game of the year 4-0. I had another goal or two but most importantly, everyone on our team played hard and actually participated this week. Last week, we lost our first and only game of the season because no-one was really into it. It was a good bounce-back game for us that even featured two assists and a goal by Nathan!
Saturday night was awesome because Auntie Kelly came over to babysit. We watched movies, ate popcorn, and read stories with her. We always have a fun time with our Auntie!
