Marathon Mommy (week 303)

This weekend, Mommy ran the half-marathon at the Long Beach Marathon.  This is a 13.1 mile course that loops around the downtown and shoreline and takes over 2 hours of running to complete! She and Jackson's mommy have been getting up in the dark at 5:00 am three times a week to train for the big race so we were very proud of her on race day.  We took flowers and Gatorade to the finish line and cheered for the runners as they came in.  The best part was that we got to eat cookies and Slurpies that they gave out at the race.

Another exciting part of the weekend was that Grandpa John, Grammy, and Great Grandma came to stay with us Friday night while Mommy and Daddy went to the Hollywood Bowl to see Jason Mraz.  Mommy got the concert tickets for Daddy's 34th birthday and they took the bus from the Lakewood Mall all the way to the concert and back.  We had a fun time eating spaghetti with our grandparents and they came to my soccer game the next day.

The Geckos also had a good game this weekend and stayed undefeated with a 4-0 win over the Sonics.  I got a little frustrated with Daddy during the game because he made me sit out the first quarter as a substitute, and kept telling me to hold back on defense.  I wanted to run forward to score but in the end had a couple good saves that kept the Sonics out of our goal, and ended up scoring twice.
