Christopher's Baptism (week 306)

It only took three years of planning and Reverend Ensley said he was the heaviest kid that he ever baptized, but Christopher was finally Christened on Sunday, October 28th.  Surrounded by about 30 of his best friends and family, the ceremony was held at Bayshore Community Church in Belmont Shore where I got baptized four years ago.  He was very concerned about the whole process and fought every attempt to get him dressed in a collared shirt and khaki pants.  He even tried to wipe the baptismal water off his forehead during the ceremony.  But the outcome was good and the party was one to remember.

All the Websters came out from New York, escaping just in time to beat Hurricane Sandy from hitting the east coast.  We had a bounce house and a taco bar in the backyard, and the juiceboxes were unlimited.  Given that there were over 40 people at the party, we had to put up both tents and rent tables and chairs from Ninas to fit everyone in. I even got Christopher a baptism present: a brand new tabletop Fooseball Table.  In all honesty, the Fooseball Table was more for me than for him but surprisingly he loved it.

We were extremely grateful that our family came to join us, driving down from San Luis Obispo and Monrovia, flying from New York, and from around Long Beach.  We are lucky to have so many good friends and family that support us and share in our celebrations.  Thanks to everyone who made the time, effort, and the sacrifice to be with us on the big day.  The New Yorkers will be stuck here until at least Wednesday as the storm is now in full force hitting cities up and down the coast.
