After an awesome week of Halloween and trunk or treat carnivals, cold weather, rain, and late nights, the plague hit the Keisler household. Actually, it Bronchitis for Benjamin and Croup for Chris, but it meant a lot of sleepless nights for everyone living in the 900 square foot hospital. By the end of the week, we had visited the doctor, visited the hospital, and both Christopher and I were on the same antibiotic. As we all know, the Keisler boys don't take their medicine sitting down. It was definitely a week of payback after a week of fun.
Another casualty of our illness was soccer practice. Even worse than trying to get me to take my medicine is trying to keep me from my practice or game. I am going to blame my behavior, in part, on the feverish state of my brain. But, when I found out that I wasn't going to be allowed to practice Wednesday night I was only a moment short of being admitted to the children's mental hospital. On Saturday morning, we had the first game of the day--cold, wet, and slippery--against the Avatars. It was clear that I hadn't played for almost two weeks because I had a hard time running; scored the only goal for the other team with a beautiful shot off the post on our own goal; and, almost tied the game for them when I passed our corner kick to the opposing forward and set-up a break away for the Avatars. In the end, won a close one 2-1 on Robert's two goals and moved our record to 6-2 on the season.
On Saturday afternoon, we took all of our cans and bottles to the CSULB recycling yard and Chris, Daddy and I got $16.09! We took our money to Lowe's and got flowers and dirt to plant at home. We also got to go to lunch and had a picnic at Wardlow Park. It is amazing to me that they will give us money for trash, but I offered to drink as many sodas as required to make more cans for the next time we go.
In the end, it was important that we all got well though the week healthy because we were also getting ready for a big weekend of extended family visiting Long Beach. Cousin Steven, Aunt Lindsay, Dubby and Grandpa Andy (coming from Long Island) landed Saturday afternoon. Grammy and Grandpa John (coming from San Luis Obispo) were in town. And Aunt Andrea, Uncle Josh and cousins Eli and Sophie were visiting for Great Grandma Betty's 85th birthday. We had a party Saturday night for GGB in her backyard and Christopher went crazy for the big chocolate cake from Costco. There are more events planned for the weekend, so I'll leave it at that for now!
