Hanging with Uncle Mark (week 218)

The two best things about having Uncle Mark come stay with us are (a) having someone to play baseball with us while daddy is at work, and (b) going to Disneyland. This week, Uncle Mark came out from New York for work and to visit with us bearing gifts. He brought me my first watch--a camouflage green Timex digital watch with a light on it. I am just learning how to tell time...which is made much more difficult since I tend to put-it-on upside down.

It was a warm weekend, so we spent most of our Saturday outside. Christopher led the way licking guacamole off tortilla chips, wearing his plastic Dodger batting helmet, and trying to escape through the side gate every time daddy left it open. He made it out at one point when daddy and I were planting grass seed in the front yard. Chris was watching us from the front window. When Mommy left the kitchen door open for a second, he snuck-out and made a run for it. Since he began wearing his flip flops for the first time, he is extra fleet of foot. He was halfway down the block before we caught-up with him.

On Sunday morning, we headed for Disneyland with the entire family. Aunt Leah gets free passes from work, so we try to go every time that Uncle Mark is in town. Since we got up super early on Sunday morning, daddy threw Christopher and I in the back of the car to go pick-up bagels for breakfast and let the other adults catch-up on sleep. Christopher was super charged to sit at the table at the bagel store and eat his bagel. He got more cream cheese on his chin and face than he got in his mouth.

On the way home, we stopped by the park to see the birds and walk around the lake with the fountain, but had to leave when the gang of geese tried to get us. Christopher loved the birds and the big fountain. He was still in his pajamas and looked like a crazy man running and clapping after every bird. He still doesn't have any fear...of anything...but those big birds definitely wanted to get a piece of him for breakfast (especially because he smelled like cream cheese).

This time at Disney I took a huge step going to the Tiki Room, the Jungle Cruise and the Pirates of the Caribbean back-to-back-to-back. Christopher seems game for just about anything. In fact, he was dancing and clapping through most of the rides...and had to wear his brown monkey backpack leash just to keep him from running off. I made sure to touch as many railings as possible and put my hands in my mouth as much as possible. I am not sure why I do it, but I definitely want to try every possible new germ that might be out there.

Overall, we are both growing very fast. Christopher is clearly the social bug and wants to do anything that puts him in the middle of things. He will play anything and do anything if it keeps in the crowd. I am more interested in a controlled environment. Don't get me wrong, I like to play with others but would much prefer an organized activity and that everyone play by the rules. I don't like crowds, chaos, or disorganization.
