Goodbye to Goldilocks (week 216)

Christopher crossed another big milestone this weekend with his first haircut. His curls had become an ongoing debate between parents, friends, aunts and uncles. While some felt that they were glorious--often shining in the golden California sun--others felt that they were falling into another category altogether. A poster was even made by his uncle challenging that his baby curls had become a mullet. In the end, only a mother can make the decision to clip her baby's curls...and this weekend was time for both mother and baby.

It was a warm weekend, so all of the Keisler boys had their hair cut. Daddy cut my hair in preparation for my Tee Ball game against the Nationals. He says that baseball is a clean-cut sport but I have seen Brian Wilson from the San Francisco Giants and he has both crazy hair and a crazy beard. In any case, I try to keep my lines tight and my fade smooth. We were cutting my hair on the back patio when mommy decided to throw Christopher into the mix.

I am not known for sitting still or for allowing others to perform procedures on me without putting up a fight. Christopher on the other hand seems to revel in it. Not only did he get his teeth cleaned for the first time this week at the Dentist, but he loved it. In fact, he was so relaxed that he filled-up his diaper. When daddy cut his hair on the back patio, he was as cool as a cucumber...and so relaxed that we had to change his diaper once again. He has always been a love bug--enjoying a good cuddle, hug, and back scratch--but he seems to like attention any way that he can get it.

In the end, the consensus was that Christopher looked like a new man. Although he put a part of his babyhood behind him, he also gained a piece of boyhood. He looks much more mature, although his eyes and lashes look even bigger than ever. I think that mommy is good with it as well.

They say that Samson lost his strength when they cut his hair. Clearly, getting his hair cut didn't stop Christopher one bit. In fact, he seems to be running faster, jumping higher, and laughing louder.
