Big Brother Ben (week 177)

This was a great week. It was full of grandparents, baseball games, swimming, waterslides, pancakes with dada, and cat licensing. The other neat thing is that they started tearing-apart our sidewalks and taking them away.

On Saturday, the Carfax kids spent a lot of time in the sun and water. Dada and I took Christopher to the dog park to see the new mobile clinics. Chris loved the dogs, but we got hungry and didn't last long. All the boys went for breakfast at the pancake store (the Golden Star across from Cal-Bowl). When we got back, Kip and Amy set-up the big water slide on their front yard and all the kids had fun. When that lost its luster we went to Chris and Julie's pool to swim--which mainly looked like me inching along the side of the pool with my life vest on. Chris took out his new boat...which has its own hood.

Sunday, Grandma and Grandpa Mike came down to see me. After taking a long walk through Heartwell Park, Grandpa, Dada and I went to the Angels game. Grandpa Mike bought me a new red Angels hat--it was a choice between the hat or cotton candy. We also ate hot dogs and coke. We made it all the way until the 9th inning (my longest game yet) before I lost it and had to go home. The Angels ended up losing in the 10th inning while we were driving home, but I was asleep by the time the seat belt was buckled.

Project Little Brother (week 32)
Christopher began clapping this week for the first time. He also got his first two bottom teeth and loves to touch them with his bottom lip. At almost (8) months, he still isn't crawling, but he has come a long way in the last few weeks. He has also began a new rocking phase. Up on all fours or in his jump-jump, Christopher is a rocking fool. He gets a total kick out of it too. If he can catch your eye, he will crack himself up. Over the weekend though, Christopher came down with some viral croup. I felt terrible for him because his eyes were totally bloodshot and he was super snotty. The worst was at night when he had a hard time breathing-in and sounded like a baby seal. The scary thing is that right now there is a Statewide epidemic of Pertussis (whooping cough), so we aren't taking any chances.

Word of the Week
Rally Monkey: the little black and brown spider monkey that comes-out in the later innings of the Angels games. He is both horrifying and fascinating at the same time; and sometimes appears outside your window or on your roof.
