Fathers Day Weekend! In honor of Fathers Day, I proposed a new way to celebrate the day by giving my dad a test. Essentially, I wanted test the skills that he has learned throughout the year and to remind them of what is important about being a dad: patience, functioning without sleep, taking a long time to accomplish simple projects, answering the same question multiple times, speed-reading the newspaper, and drinking cold coffee.
My dad is definitely trying his best and I love him for it. It is clear that being a dad is not easy these days with the responsibilities of feeding Christopher bottles in the middle of the night, getting up to go to work every day, and still playing baseball with me at least once a day. For this Fathers Day, we made him a good breakfast--mama is getting really good at using the waffle iron to make crispy waffles--went to church (which is full on Mothers Day, but empty on Fathers Day).
In the afternoon, we ordered a bunch of Valentino's pizza for lunch, and invited all the neighborhood kids over to our backyard for the water slide. Dada said we might as well give all the dads a little break and keep the kids busy (and tired), but putting-up the slide and giving them a chance to wear themselves out. In the afternoon, we had barbecued ribs and fries...one of his favorites...because he said he was getting ready for his physical and wanted to make sure that he ate a proper amount of cholesterol-causing food so that they would get an accurate rating on his blood tests.
Project Little Brother (week 28)
Christopher is now crawling backwards a little and soon will be taking-off across the floor. Mainly, he just does push-ups and likes to spend the majority of his time on his belly in the living room. You can't leave him alone in his Einsteins Chair anymore because the second you walk out of the room he flips himself out of the chair and starts spinning around in circles on his belly. Dada says he will be crawling soon and we will all have to watch-out because he wants to put his hands on everything.
Word of the Week:
Goochi Goochie Coo Coo: adapted from the Lady and the Tramp II cartoon, this is the perennial baby salutation. Used to make baby brothers laugh and giggle, GGCC can also be used when tickling someone. One must repeat it at least (8) times to get the proper effect.
