Christmas Eve 2017 has finally arrived and we are so excited that we can hardly sleep. This weekend has been filled with so much Christmas preparation that the only thing remaining is to go to church, read the Christmas story in Luke, and put out the cookies for Santa. This year is super special because we are in the new house (with a functioning heating system)!
On Friday, we had the big Christmas Show at Patrick Henry Elementary. Christopher had a song and dance with the 2nd Grade and I sang with the 5th Graders. Mom and dad were a little sad to see my last show at Patrick Henry but Chris still has three more to go! We have so much fun at the school now because many of the families have grown up together, played baseball and soccer, and worked on committees and volunteer projects over the years. It is a great community and a special opportunity for us as kids.
On Saturday, the boys went shopping for mom and found some great stuff at local small businesses. We tried to stay out of the big stores this year and it was a lot of fun. Also, we went to the Nutcracker at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center Terrace Theater. It was an amazing show with fireworks, flying horses, and incredible dancing. I was a little surprised that there were no words for the entire show--that everyone told the story through music, dancing, and expressions rather than words. Christopher was super into it and riveted throughout the entire show. The Hodgsons were also there.
In the evening we went to the traditional VonLeffern Christmas party with Santa. It was super fun--particularly to see the Vikings beat the Packers for the 2nd time this season! They won their second NFC North Championship in 3 years, and their 4th in the last 10. We also got to ride in their new Tesla which was amazing. It's now time for Christmas!
