The Big Gala and the End to the Purple Ninjas (week 515)

It was another big week at the Keislers with Dad traveling to Oakland for the week to attend the Code for America Summit, the night of the big Patrick Henry Foundation Gala, and Christopher's final soccer game with the legendary Purple Ninjas.

We'll start with the last game of the Purple Ninjas which was a season where our team had the most fun of any team in the league in spite of the fact that we played a lot of defense and didn't score a lot of goals.  I helped Dad and Tom to coach the team of 6- and 7-year-olds, and it was a crazy group of dudes.  I wouldn't say that they were the most athletic team but they were certainly fun to watch!

On Saturday night, Chris and I got to spend the night with Aunt Kelly and the dogs--Daisy and Gigi. We played Nintendo games, fed the dogs, and walked to the store in the morning to pick out frozen waffles and pancakes for breakfast.  It was best to spend time with the dogs who slept right beside and sometimes right on top of us.

The reason that we had our big slumber party at Aunt Kelly's was because Mom and Dad had to work at the Patrick Henry Foundation Gala.  Actually, Dad had to work and Mom had to be there to have fun.  They said there were over 300 people there and over $60,000 raised for the school.  Dad worked hard on the Gala for a long time because he is the President of the Foundation this year. After all the traveling and the late night at the Gala, Dad was pretty sick.  He still took us to church choir and the Family Scrimmage Sunday afternoon, but had to go to Urgent Care the next week to get special shots and medicine before he started getting better.

There is still a lot of work going-on to get all the Classroom Art and prizes to everyone who attended the Gala, but slowly but surely everything is leaving our living room.  We had to help set up tables at the school, drop stuff at people's houses, and have people swing by to our house to pick stuff up.  Mom says she will be glad when everything is finally gone!
