Dad and Grandpa John Retreat Again (week 512)

For many years, Dad and Grandpa John have been going to the "Men's Advance" in El Camino Pines, near Frazier Park.  I have always asked dad why he goes and what they do up there.  He tells me that it is an important time for him to spend with his own dad--thinking about life, family, God, and how to be a better father.  He left Friday night and returned Sunday afternoon.  He says that someday Chris and I will get to go with them.

While he was away, Chris and I both had soccer games at Heartwell Park, AYSO 114.  It is one of the biggest leagues in the country and we have 20 teams just in the Boys U10 division.  Dad has been coaching our team: team United; and, has been the assistant coach to Chris's team: the Purple Ninjas.  They are kind of a tale of two teams with team United now 7-0 and undefeated, and the Purple Ninjas having scored just 3 goals all season.  We are having a ton of fun because many of the players on my team are from Patrick Henry Elementary School, and many of the players on Chris's team are just total goofballs that love to run around and tackle each other.  Both teams have gotten much better and the parents are all very supportive.  It has been a really fun year of soccer for everyone.
