Soccer Is Here! (week 507)

Actually, this past weekend was sort of a send-off party for baseball and a welcome party for the new soccer season.  After waiting impatiently for 3 months, the day finally arrived on Saturday September 10th, when Mom took me to Angel Stadium for the big Angels Dream Camp with the professional players.  As advertised, it was a total dream come true.  I got to work with Buss and Petit, and about 200 other kids on the field at Angel Stadium for about three hours.  We hit, fielded, and ran through a number of drills.  My favorite was talking to the players about the different teams they had played on, and about the game coming up that night.  I asked them if they liked to be on the team even thought they had a losing record this year and they still said yes.

It was also Opening Day and Picture Day for AYSO 114 this weekend.  Of course, I missed the festivities, but Christopher and the Purple Ninjas were there in all their black and purple glory.  My team, United, is white, blue and black so we have an American flag as our banner. Christopher is playing with Max Modica and the U8 Division.  They took their pictures, played at the carnival, and ate spicy tacos.  It sounded like a lot of fun, but I wasn't able to be in this year's picture.  I will have to figure out how to swing make-up day.

It was also a busy weekend for Bayshore Men's Club, birthday parties and the kickoff of Los Lobitos Adventure Guides.  Chris went with dad to the Bayshore Men's Club meeting and breakfast to have bagels and coffee, and hear about one of the men talk about an international kidnapping and murder case that he fought as a lawyer in the late 1990's.  Dad makes us go to Men's Club so that we get to know the different people at our church.  Los Lobitos kicked off another year on Sunday with a pool party at the VonLeffern's house.  The "Little Wolves" are a YMCA Adventure Guide Circle of Patrick Henry 1st Graders primarily.  Adventure Guides are a version of the old YMCA Indian Guides that have been around forever.  Dad and Chris go on adventures that are planned by the dads.  I wish I could go, but dad says it is just for Chris and him!
