Spring Cleaning (week 498)

This weekend was the end of the first full month that we have been out of school, so Chris and I helped to clear out some of our craft and sport bins around the house and to throw some old stuff away.  We didn't want to do it at first, but it turned out to be fun because we found a lot of old treasures that we had forgotten about, and were also able to donate a bunch of stuff to Goodwill.  Chris had the good idea of driving around to find people that might not have very much, but we settled on taking it to Goodwill where they could find it for themselves.  We ended with a much cleaner Playroom and two very clean deck boxes in the backyard.

It was also the first week of our baseball District Championships.  We had a great game on Wednesday night and won 12-0 in a mercy rule decision against the all stars from Peninsula (Palo Verdes).  I had 4 RBI in the game and hit well.  Unfortunately, the tables were turned on us Saturday afternoon when the host team Torrance crushed us 12-2.  I had both RBI in that game and hit deep double down the left field line, but my pitching was abysmal.  They brought me in in the 5th inning relief and I could not find a grip on the ball or my footing on the mound.  It was probably my worst outing ever, and I walked 3, hit a batter, and gave up 6 earned runs.

After the game, everyone was pretty low but mom got me nachos and when we got home the family set-up an art studio in the backyard.  Chris painted an incredible still life of a flower, I painted in the abstract, and dad painted the Ace of Diamonds.  We listened to Beethoven and had a great time enjoying the backyard together for dinner.  It may be the last Summer that we enjoy our patio given the changes that are coming to the house!
