Calling all Pitchers and Catchers (week 474)

Baseball is back!  Actually, we are still in basketball season but we all got texts from our coaches this week about the first team meetings and practices.  After two years with the Red Sox, we found out that I am now an Oriole.  On Thursday, we all went to Straw Hat to meet our new coaches, parents, and players.  And although I don't know many of them, Nate is on my team which we were hoping for.  It is going to be a fun year.

Christopher continues to spend the majority of his free time focused on filming his Shopkins activities.  Essentially, he sets them up in the playroom and films them moving around and talking to each other.  A big development in his Shopkins world is the arrival of Barbie and Ken.  Apparently, the key to the Shopkins universe is that there is some form of a human being that actually goes shopping. Now, Barbie and Ken are the ones that peruse the Shopkins inventory and make shopping choices about what they need and what they want.  It is starting to become a little bit clearer about how these pieces fit together, but we are still not sure how and why Mady and Christopher are so obsessed about Shopkins!

The discussion about Science Fair also started this week at the dinner table and we discovered that (a) Christopher is extremely passionate about science, (b) has amazing theories about how the world works, and (c) is very enthusiastic and animated about sharing these theories with the world.  Chris has a very optimistic view of things.  For instance, his hypothesis that mosquitoes bite people because they want to test their blood for cancer is an example of how "all animals have a role in making the world a better place".  This theory is extended to explain night and day on earth, as well as many other theories about how things work.  We still haven't narrowed down our projects (not due until the Spring), but we have a new topic of conversation at the dinner table.
