Easter! (week 432)

After many years dreaming about finding the Golden Egg at Uncle Ron & Karen's big Easter Egg Hunt, Christopher finally struck it rich and his dream came true.  Only about 10 minutes into the mad dash for eggs, Christopher discovered the giant Golden Egg hidden in a planter pot right near the starting line.  While there weren't as many kids hunting this year, the Golden Egg was open to everyone--adults included--and there was plenty of competition.  The tricky part about the location of the Golden Egg this year was that it was hidden right under our noses.  As we rushed past it on our way to find eggs filled with candy, money, and lottery tickets, Christoper discovered it after circling back to the starting line.  Inside was a ticket that he redeemed for a giant set of Lindt chocolate rabitts, eggs, truffles, and lots of other delicious things he didn't need!

Easter Sunday started early.  In fact, I awoke at about 5:15 am to check on the Easter baskets we left in front of the fire place along with carrots and other treats for the Easter Bunny. Outside on the front porch, stairs, and up-and-down the sidewalks was evidence that the Easter Bunny had visited.  He left behind rabbit footprints and little white marshmallow bunny poop.  In our baskets were all types of treats that looked like they may have come from our Grandma Dubby in Long Island, NY.  For breakfast, we had delicious cinnamon rolls and other pastries from Katella Deli, and read the Easter story about the Last Supper, Jesus sacrificing himself for his friends, and rising again on Easter Sunday.  Although we read all of the holiday stories from the Children's Bible, both Chris and I are starting to understand a lot more about what it all means.  In fact, when asked a few days later about the meaning of Easter, Christopher answered that it was about "sacrifice" and was even able to explain what sacrifice meant!

We finished Easter morning with the classic pictures and church at Bayshore which was full of music and celebration.  Since there is no Sunday School on Easter Sunday (and also no Children's Choir practice), we stayed for the entire service.  Great Grandma Betty, Grandpa John, Grammy and the Armstrongs all joined us at church...and although there were no doughnuts it was a pretty good service anyway.

In the afternoon, we went to Uncle Ron & Aunt Karen's for the big Easter dinner buffet, egg hunt, and even got to stay overnight with the two new puppies Lily and Kosmo (who licked and kissed all over our faces).  We stayed overnight this year because the following morning we were leaving with Grandma Paula and Grandpa Mike for Spring Break!
