After a full year of anticipation--and questions each week about how much longer--Christopher's big day finally arrived! While his actual 5th birthday wasn't until Sunday, but we celebrated the occasion a day earlier in our backyard with a Ninjago party, bounce house, and copious amounts of cake. 
Chris started the day on Saturday by donning his Happy Birthday Crown from Ms. Mendez's TK classroom. He then helped to blow the patio, trim the vines, and I mowed the lawn in anticipation of the bounce house arriving. The rest of the day was filled with laughing, screaming, running, and lots of crying. It may come as a surprise, but a 5 year old birthday party involves lots of bumped heads, skinned knees, wrestling over presents, and crying. Chris must have broken down at least 10 times throughout the afternoon which started at noon but didn't end until after the USC vs. UCLA game around 8:30 pm. It was definitely enough party for everyone involved--including the balloons and the grass--which were all a bit beaten down and deflated by the end of the night.
Friday night also marked the arrival of Uncle Mark, Aunt Leah, and baby Nina. We had been waiting for weeks for their arrival--ever since baby Nina started crawling. They came in late Friday night so we didn't see them until Saturday morning. They were pretty tired, but baby Nina did a good job on the flight and was so much bigger than when we saw her in New York just three months ago. They are staying with us for a few days before they head up to Northern California for Thanksgiving. We are fully looking forward to Thanksgiving week because there is no school and we get to stay home with mommy!
