Chris spends a long time on his pictures, layering the watercolors and taking his time to add lots of different colors and dimension. I on the other hand like to knock it out super quickly and get on with business. Chris is happy when his pictures capture the look and feel of the place, while I quickly get frustrated if something doesn't look exactly like the picture that we are trying to paint. I want accuracy and Chris likes concept...and Dad like process. We are all very different dudes, and the painting reflects how we experience the world in very different ways.
The summer of camps continued this last week with Christopher at the Nature Center and I at the UCLA Camp hosted by Patrick Henry Elementary School. The camp happens every day and we learn about something different. We do art--lots of painting--and eat different types of foods. We do the 8-clap cheer to celebrate the day. We also went to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Downtown Long Beach, went to the beach with our friends, and ate at In-N-Out on Friday afternoon. On Saturday mornings, Dad makes us help with the yard and the playroom. We fight having to do any chores, but as a reward, we got to help him make brownies...and even better, eat the brownies with ice cream after dinner.
In other news, we continue to read each night. Since we finished-up with James and the Giant Peach last week, we picked our new book out Saturday night: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We are reading about Charlie Bucket and his poor family. Mommy and Dad take turns reading a chapter out loud. The Chocolate Factory seems like a very mysterious place!
