It's a Christmas Show Parade! (week 365)
This was the week of the Christmas Show. After practicing for months, Christopher, Mady, and their Webby Dance Crew finally got to show off their stuff at the St. Lukes Christmas Pageant. Just recently, the church finished a total remodel of the sanctuary. Boy did it look better than when I was at St. Lukes and boy was it packed this year. Perhaps, everyone came because they were having the In-N-Out and Funnel Cake trucks. Perhaps, they all came to see Christopher and his Webby Dance Crew. There were a couple hundred people there--standing room only--and they were not disappointed. Christopher's dance to Jingle Bells was right at the beginning of the show. Of course, he was the only boy on stage with 8 other girls but he was the best dancer of the lot. He didn't seem at all phased by the hundreds of onlookers and they finished with a Rockettes kick. The crowd went wild! After the big dance, Chris sort of lost his interest and wasn't really into the rest of the show. As part of the alumni club--Jackson, Nathan, and I--it was a pretty good showing. Even better were the cheeseburgers and the funnel cakes after the show. 
Earlier in the day, my 1st Grade Class sang a variation of a song from the Nutcracker...a Patrick Henry classic. Instead of the big show that they do at the high school, this year we sang outside. Instead of a three or four hour ordeal, we only had a one-hour show which was very pleasing to the parents. On Saturday, the Keisler Family marched in the Daisy Lane Parade. Another local classic, this year we marched with the Police Department. Actually, Chris and I only marched for a few blocks before getting into the back of the "Big Bear" SWAT vehicle. you can see our faces looking through the gun holes and waving to the crowd. We had a blast just waiving to the people and playing in the back of the SWAT vehicle with the Explorers. It was a busy weekend, with parades, shows, church services, and even a basketball game on Sunday morning. Our team--the Cardinal--got beat for the second straight game but we were at least competitive for the first four periods. We don't expect to do a whole lot of winning this year, but I practiced at the gym in the morning with my dad on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and the practice has been doing me a world of good.
