Our week and a half at Grandma Dubby's was the longest time that we have ever been away from Daddy since we were born. He stayed home and worked while we went on the boat, swam, and played with Cousin Baby Steven. At first, Christopher wouldn't get into Dubby's pool because he said it was too deep. He didn't remember that he had been swimming in the same pool for three years. It took Mommy grabbing him and jumping into the pool with him in her arms to remind him that his life jacket made him float.
We also went fishing and shooting with Grandpa Andy. I didn't catch anything, but fishing from the boat is much different than fishing from the side of the creek at Summerdale. I shot Grandpa's BB Gun for the first time and hit the target five times. At my stage of life, BB Guns (and guns in general) are very interesting. Of course, no mom wants their 6 years old to have a BB Gun, as we have seen in A Christmas Story (one of our favorite movies of all time), but it is something fun to do with your Grandpa on Summer vacation.
We also went into the City to see Uncle Mark and Aunt Leah. It was pretty awesome to see Citi Field at night. I had been to a game there during the day last year, but never saw it at night with its lights on. Aunt Leah is going to have a baby soon so we will have another cousin in New York. We rode the Subway, visited Marcus Garvey Park, and had hamburgers at Harlem Shake for the first time.
While we were away, Daddy had to cook, clean and work all by himself. We called him every day, but it would have been better to have him in New York with us. He had to go to a conference in Las Vegas, so he stood next to the big sign and sent us a picture. I think that it was good to be away for a little while and to take a break from sports, but I also started to miss my friends and my home.
