Summerdale! (week 341)

For the 7th summer of my short life, we headed for the hills and spent the week Summerdale with Grandpa John and Grammy, the Armstrongs, and the Temples.  This year was probably the most fun and relaxing time that we have had camping because Christopher and Emma were big enough to navigate the creek, keep from tripping on every root in the campsite, and sleep through the night.  We also stayed close to the campsite and didn't take too many day trips.

One of my favorite things this year was fishing with Grandpa John and Jackson.  Not only did we all catch fish in the creek, but also got to clean them for the first time.  We all thought it was a little gross at first, but it was pretty cool to see all the things that the fish had been eating before we caught him.  We learned to appreciate a little more about where all those hamburgers come from as well.  In addition to fish, we also caught and ate a crawfish for the first time.  We caught butterflies but let them go after they laid eggs in the butterfly cage be brought with us.

Other than the campfire sticks, S'mores, and throwing real darts at the dartboard, my favorite part of the trip was going to Glacier Point to see Half Dome and Yosemite Valley. Along the way, we saw deer and a large coyote or small wolf.  Half Dome and the waterfalls around it were amazing.  I learned that at 8,400 feet, Half Dome is the same size as 30 Windseekers on top of each other.  Daddy said that even though he is afraid of heights that someday, he and I will hike to the top of Half Dome.

It was an amazing trip, and another great year in Summerdale!
