Thanksgiving: Christopher Turns Three (week 310)

We stayed home this Thanksgiving but it was one of the busiest four days that I can remember.  In just 96 hours, we: hosted Thanksgiving Dinner and drank an entire bottle of Martinelli's apple cider; won the Thanksgiving Day Toilet Bowl Soccer Game on penalties; went to the beach; put-up the Christmas lights; picked-out and decorated our Christmas Tree; watched Notre Dame beat USC at the Coliseum to complete a perfect season; and celebrated Christopher's 3rd birthday.  There were ups and downs, endings and beginnings, and a lot of fun with our friends.

This year, we hosted Thanksgiving and shared dinner with the Bowers family.  We played soccer in the backyard while Mommy cooked the turkey. I blocked five of Daddy's shots on goal, and my team (Jeff and I) won the 2012 Toilet Bowl on penalty kicks.  At dinner we all said three things that we were thankful for--including our families, our homes, and even our little brothers.  After dinner we all walked down the block to have dinner with the Armstrongs.  It was good to take a walk after all the food that we ate but everyone was pretty tired and did a lot of crying when we had to get into the car to go home.

We went to Mother's Beach on the day after Thanksgiving, which was Christopher's actual 3rd birthday.  In the afternoon, we went to Rossmor Pastries to pick out cupcakes, cookies, and other treats for our little family party.  Christopher was pretty excited because not only did we get to have special desserts, but we also got to go to the Christmas Tree Store and pick-out our tree for this year.  We chose a 7 foot Nordman whatever that is.  We did most of the decorating and helped Daddy put up the lights on the house and the tree.  We were the first house on the block this year to put out the lights!

Saturday was somewhat depressing in that USC lost its 5th game of the year.  After much hype as the No. 1 team in the country, USC ended the season 7-5 without a trip to the Pac-12 Championship or the Rose Bowl. In fact, we were humiliated two weeks in a row at the hands of our rivals UCLA and then Notre Dame.  Daddy went to the game on Saturday night and had to suffer through the celebrations of all the Notre Dame fans.  He says it is hard to swallow but that twice every 11 years isn't too much to complain about.

Sunday was the day that we had Christopher's birthday party in the backyard...with  everything that he asked for: Jackson's bounce house, a purple cake, ice cubes, and cucumbers.  It was just the Hubers and Armstrongs that came over in the afternoon but we all worked together to create a huge mess and had a blast doing it.  Christopher was most excited about his Spiderman action figure with a plastic spider web that fired out of the right wrist.  He has been shooting everyone ever since he opened it and figured out how to make it work.  He did end-up passing-out immediately after people left the party and slept next to Mommy on the big bed while she worked on her grading.  Hopefully, he isn't too sick!
