Christopher, Mommy and I gave Daddy the best Fathers Day Week ever. It started on Friday afternoon at the Fathers Day Root Beer float toast at St. Luke's. Since I don't go to school on Fridays, daddy picked Chris and me up from home. On the way to school (which is about a three minute drive), we rolled down the windows and blasted our favorite song--Good Life by One Republic. While I sang, Christopher found a way to fall asleep and was mad as a hornet when we arrived.
In the classroom, there were about 12-14 daddies and their kids sitting at the craft table in the tiny chairs that we use. I was beside myself with excitement and had been hearing and talking about the Root Beer all week. We started the event by coloring a picture of ourselves and of the day while Ms. Clair took pictures of all the daddies and kids. Christopher mostly played at the little kitchen that he loves while daddy and me drew our picture. Daddy hasn't been at school during the day very many times over the past few years, so I was extremely pumped about it. We gave our daddies the laminated ties and paper corsages that we made for them. Jackson's daddy punched a hole in his and mine and they wore them for the rest of the day.
The Root Beer was everything that it had been billed to be. Christopher mostly ate the ice cream off the top and I used a straw to get at the Root Beer. We had some chips as well, and made "nuts and bolts" art using Elmers glue and nuts and bolts that the teachers gave to us. It was a great time and we left with all kinds of treasure.
On Sunday, we had bagels from Grounds and went to Bayshore for the entire church service! It wasn't our best hour and mommy had to wrestle with Christopher for most of the service. The only good thing was that there was almost no one there to see how crazy we were (unlike Mothers Day when the Church is packed). After church we walked down to the cookie store to pick-out giant frosted cookies.
In the afternoon, we set-up the water slide and the Armstrongs came over. Daddy wanted to have a barbecue and watch all the sports in the backyard. We ate ice cream, pushed each other around in the dump truck, built roller coasters, and ran up and down the water slide all afternoon. There was European Championship Soccer, Stanley Cup Finals, Angels, Dodgers, the US Open and the NBA Championships all on TV on the same day! The weather was perfect and we had a great time enjoying it. Chris and I slept until past 8:00 am the next morning!
