Kickoff! (week 239)

Silver Sharks: 5
Avatars: 4
(Including 2 own goals)

Not that score matters much in an U6 Boys Soccer Game, but we do have to keep track and submit our scorecard to league officials after the match. Big Robert was our man of the match with a hat trick just after half-time. We only scored on ourselves once, which was a bit of a disappointment because we had just talked about changing sides after half-time.

Not more than one minute after the entire team confirmed--by pointing at the goal that we would be shooting at in the second half--did our last defender Andy take off running on a break-away and drill a shot in the lower left corner of our net. We all jumped up-and-down and cheered until we realized that the parents were tearing their hair out. But for 25 minutes (two 10-minute halves), it was a flurry of substitutions, dramatic collisions, orange slices, and sideline instructions. What a rush! I loved every moment of my first soccer game and can't wait for practice next week!

This week, Christopher and I also went to the Aquarium with mommy. Christopher is really starting to step-up as a real little brother. He is much more engaging, fun to hang-out with, jump, run, and wrestle. Christopher also showed a major interest in trains this week. While he does like to kick and throw the ball, he is also showing an interest in putting the wooden train track together and pushing the train around. Up until now, other that drawing on the living room and hallway walls, Chris has not been able to focus on something quietly.
