Summer Closing In (week 441)

With the beginning of June comes the beginning of Summer, the end of school and the big push for baseball as we get ready for the sanctioned tournaments.

Last week, we ended-up winning the Fountain Valley Tournament for the first time in my three tries.  We finished 2nd as Shetland but didn't even make the bracket play as 7 Select.  This year, we played two very close 3-2 games on Sunday to close out a very competitive tournament, upset the host Fountain Valley, and win our first tournament of the year.  We also started the East Long Beach "Battle of the Beach and "St. Hedwig" tournaments.

This week, Dad went to New York for work on the Bloomberg Philanthropies grant.  He said he learned a lot and had a great time, but his favorite part was getting to see Cousin Nina, Uncle Mark and Aunt Leah.  Cousin Nina is now standing (with a little help from the furniture), and is crawling all over the house.  She also like to show-up her toys to everyone.  Dad said that they played with a lot of toys and Uncle Mark made great ribs for everyone.  Chris and I wished we could have been there too but it was a business trip this time and we still had two more weeks of school!
