What a weekend filled with Keisler Family Christmas memories! The biggest event of the week, of course, was the culmination of months of work on the Bayshore Children's Choir's "The Living Creche". This was the first major production for both Christopher and I, and the first time that we worked so hard over multiple months--every Sunday after church--on our solos, songs, and costumes. It was also the first time that we worked with older and more sophisticated kids from as old as the 5th Grade on a joint production. Every Sunday, as we drove to church we practiced our songs in the back of Dad's truck. Every Sunday afternoon following church, Sunday School, and donuts, we twisted and turned for over an hour while rehearsing our positions, our cues, and our songs. But it all came together this weekend with many of our friends and family in the audience. The church was filled to the gills with Hubers, Keislers, Ponces, and our Bayshore Church family, culminating with a standing ovation. Other than my head scarf falling off and Christopher wearing his donkey hat sideways, it came off without a hitch--a testament to the leadership of Julie Ramsey and Katie our directors. Although I had to miss my basketball game, I told Mom and Dad that I am ready for the next play and can't wait to do it again next year!
Other big news in the Keisler household this weekend was that we had a meeting with both Santa and Ms. Claus at the historic Rancho Los Alamitos annual "Breakfast with Santa" event. We had both worked-up our wish lists with Mommy over the course of the week, but Chris took special care to make a second copy which he hand delivered to Santa in person at the breakfast. We had a fantastic time seeing the crazy horses, turkeys, and rabbits at the Rancho as well as making crafts and touring the gardens. This year the Armstrongs, Hubers and Modicas were all there as well. In the evening, Daddy marched in the Daisy Lane Parade and then we all headed over to the Ponce's for a holiday party.
Perhaps the craziest news this week was the arrival of a very naughty and mischievous elf. We don't actually know his name, but he arrived about a week ago and gets into trouble every night when we are sleeping. Every morning, we wake-up to find him doing something different: playing the iPad and drinking beer, eating all the candy in the cupboard, head-first in a stocking, climbing the Christmas tree, making a zipline across the living room, or mixing-up the advent calendar. Daddy threatened to take him to Santa at the Rancho and Christopher wants to send him back to the North Pole...but I think he is cute and I love him.
