Week 400! (week 400)

Believe it or not, I have been writing to you all about my life for 400 weeks!  It is hard to imagine that so much has happened since February 22, 2007, but if you want to take a walk down memory lane, there are now 400 blog entries that detail my journey through life.  It has been such a wonderful journey too.  From my time as a swinging single child in the Shore to my life as a big brother attending Patrick Henry School, it is all there.  Congratulations to those of you who have read them all and thank you for all your support over these wonder years!
We spent this week in New York, our longest trip away from home yet.  Actually, the total time away was just 12 days but when asked, we didn't want to come home!  Ice cream from Carvel, the best pizza in the world, and swimming almost every day; why would a kid want to return home with the prospect of facing school just a few weeks away.

In any event, our 2nd week in New York was a lot more relaxing than the first but just as much fun. We continued to watch kids--Augustus Gloop, Varuca Salt, Mike Teavee--drop like flies in Mr. Wonka's Chocolate Factory, and we continued to get ourselves out on the boat and into various swimming pools.  It has definitely been a Summer of water activities and we have both (Chris in particular) become very proficient swimmers.  Actually, we haven't taken any swim lessons yet so we have our own style; but we have become very proficient dog paddlers and divers nonetheless.

With Daddy back to work, it was up to mommy and the grandparents to keep us busy.  We went to the Long Island Ducks baseball game one night and had a blast.  We were close to the field, ate hot dogs, and had a great time.  We also had a big family reunion at Dubby's house with Aunt Leah, Uncle Mark, Cousin Nina, Aunt Lindsey, Cousins Nathan and Steven, and the whole family coming to the house for a few days.  Chris and I got to drive the boat multiple times.  Chris even caught two fish!  Nobody else could get a bite, but Chris continued to have his magic touch that he learned from Grandpa John in Summerdale, and was the only guy to catch fish out on the bay.  I also found a beautiful horseshoe crab that I brought home in a box.  Actually, it was dead but in perfect condition so I brought it back to share with my school.

We finally had to return home on Monday night because college was starting and Mommy had to teach class on Tuesday.  It was a bittersweet goodbye, but our best trip to New York yet.  Daddy was waiting for us when we returned with gifts, stories, and great memories.  Thank you to all our friends and family that came to see us!
