Fall Is Here (week 242)

You can see that the holiday season is coming, a time of the year that is filled with excitement for a kid. This week, we got our first rain of the Fall Season in Long Beach. It was a welcome break although Christopher and I were trapped inside for the entire day. The air has been much cooler, crisper, and clear at night; Mommy removed all of the tomato plants from the garden (it looks very bare now); and some of the trees have already begun to change color.

The Fall also means soccer an the Silver Sharks won there third game in four tries. This week, we had a match-up with the Gray Sharks--yes, they wore nearly identical uniforms--and it was a challenge. They had two very big and fast players up front so we concentrated on defense and got away with a couple of counter-attacks for the 4-2 win. I have started to play a lot of defense because I am getting good at clearing the ball. We didn't score on ourselves this week which was a huge plus, but I am still having a hard time biting my fingernails on the field, and focusing on telling everyone else where to stand and what to do (rather than focusing on the ball).

On Saturday, we also attended the 11th Annual Walk for the Animals. We were most excited about the bounce house and spent the majority of our time jumping, but we also got to see lots of different kinds of dogs, as well as lizards, snakes, and other reptiles. Christopher in particular is a huge fan of the dogs, is fearless of the reptiles, and will kiss anything he can get his lips on if you aren't careful. He has been talking a lot more, adding words like bird and tree...clearly on the cusp of a major breakthrough.

We also got caught-up on our Lego building this week. Daddy and I are trying to make every picture that is included in the instructions on the Lego set that we bought a few weeks back. This weekend, we made an alligator, snail, truck, and a house among other animals and things. Mostly, I pick-out the thing that we are going to build and pull together the pieces. Then, after we have put the project together Christopher gets a hold of it and there is a lot of yelling and crying.
