Keeping Cool (week 230)

This week I had Sports Camp at Cherry Park for most of the day. At this camp we played a bunch of different sports including baseball, soccer, and basketball. The camp was through the City of Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine Department. Although it wasn't as much baseball, I liked that the other kids were all my age and that my two coaches were nice college girls who knew how to relate to little kids. I also had a lot of fun playing the other sports.

When we weren't at camp, Christopher and I spent all of our time in the backyard pool trying to keep cool. Even though it wasn't nearly as hot as it was throughout the country, we still tried to stay wet to beat the heat. I included a picture of us laying on our towel in the backyard after a long swim in the pool. Christopher spends most of his time getting in and out of the pool. He does a lot of slipping and falling. At the end of the day, we take buckets and water all the plants.

Christopher has also been getting his fair share of time outs over the past few weeks. He mainly gets them for being naughty (e.g. throwing food, hitting, and eating things he shouldn't). The picture to the left is after Daddy caught him smearing the liquid hand soap all over the bathroom floor. He doesn't like time outs and pouts a lot until he is liberated again. He has also been spending a lot of time at the doctor lately. Actually, he loves to go to the doctor and will voluntarily lay out on the table with his arms stretched out to be examined. Unfortunately, he has been working on his fourth double ear infection in the last few months We don't know if he hasn't shaken the first one or if it is a new illness each time.

In addition to weekly band concerts, we have also been getting to the beach each week. This past few days has been Sea Fest in the City of Long Beach. This includes a bunch of different events including the Kite Expo where we got to try flying the kites that they use to surf with. The highlight of course was the snow cones which were big and delicious. There have also been a number of other concerts in the parks and we picked-up Great Grandma Betty on Sunday night to hear 1920's music at the old Rancho Los Cerritos. It was great until we found that the ants got into our fried chicken and chocolate cake!
